Modern Warfare 3 comes to us by way of an older engine, but still looks great. Sure, it's not among the very best out there nowadays, but it performs well. At any given time the screen appears ready to burst with effects and visual madness. Entire battles are waged before you; buildings burn and crumble while a steady flow of explosions batter your senses. This is Call of Duty, and Modern Warfare 3 collects these moments of boom in abundance, presenting them in all their 60 frames-per-second glory.
Modern Warfare 3's singleplayer campaign hits many of the same highs and lows as its predecessors. Amazing setpieces serve as backdrops for giant firefights yet again. This is no understatement. Few games retain the crazy roller coaster pace that this does level after level, with brief moments to breathe set between the next eruption of gunplay.
Valve’s new entry in the Counter-Strike series feels very familiar, yet looks a lot better. Counter-Strike: Global Offensive will include seven classic maps that feature the traditional bomb diffusion and hostage rescue modes. I played the former for a match and was instantly reminded of how different Counter-Strike is than most of today’s shooters. There’s no iron sight for most weapons. Deaths come quick and you’re dead until the next round. You have to buy weapons between rounds with earned cash. The last entry in the series was in 2004, so the updated graphics bring things up…
CS: GO features new maps, characters, and weapons and delivers updated versions of the classic CS content (de_dust, etc.). In addition, CS: GO will introduce new gameplay modes, matchmaking, leader boards, and more.

The single player campaign of Halo 2 is not very long, and should take the average player 10 hours or less to crawl through on its default difficulty level. The story begins as the Master Chief, the intrepid space marine that blew Halo ring, a devastating destruction of weapons of galaxies, in the first game, much to the dismay of the Alliance, a group of alien races who regard the ring as a religious artifact that will send them "a great journey." The plot of the second game deals with the Covenant attempting to go on this great journey with another Halo ring, called Delta Halo. But there are plenty of political turmoil happening in the ranks of Alliance, making it difficult of all. Add to a Pact invasion of Earth, and have all the pieces necessary to launch these factions together again for another round of fighting - even from some of the races fighting each other Covenant is also often easier to simply run beyond all the action. Although the number of hours to complete the campaign is already low, at times the game feels like it's dragging, repeating the same corridors and same enemies a little too often. Toss in a couple of very disappointing boss battles, and you have a pretty solid campaign, with some good vehicle sequences to break up the action in first person, but also one that feels like it could have been much better.
The multiplayer part of Halo 2 is the part that still pays attention to this day, and that translates into the PC fairly directly. The game has support for 16 players. Halo's multiplayer moves relatively slow compared to other popular shooters, giving it a more methodical, tactical feel. You really need to know the capabilities of all its weapons to succeed regularly, as in any other time you will be able to throw grenades, fire one of its two arms, or near a melee attack that kills instantly well if you hit someone from behind. Death comes quickly if you stay exposed for long, as your shield drains quickly and take some time to recharge. This also forces you to play around with care.
